Our ethos was defined by Everglades’ founder Bob Dougherty who was the founding father of the modern center console boat. Today, the Everglades team continues to lead the industry, from aesthetics to engineering, producing the finest performance fishing boats on the water.

Everglades’ founder, Bob Dougherty, began his boat-building career in 1960 at Boston Whaler. He worked his way up to Senior VP of Product Development and Engineering and was ultimately responsible for designing all the classic Whaler hulls. Thus, began a lifelong commitment to excellence in boat design and manufacturing.

After his 30-year career with Whaler, he partnered with his son Stephen and founded Edgewater Powerboats in 1990. In addition to honing his hull designs, he was responsible for building small parts and windshields for other manufacturers.

After leaving Edgewater nine years later, the Dougherty’s invented the revolutionary RAMCAP process, which earned them the 1999 NMMA Innovation of the Year Award. Everglades Boats was born soon after in 2001 and proceeded to win NMMA innovation Awards in 2002 and 2005.
